New Caltex Socceroo hero Jackson Irvine has been unable to help Burton Albion ease their relegation fears overnight in the English Championship.
The Caltex Socceroos attacking midfielder earned his first international start against Iraq in Tehran last month and scored his first national team goal days later against UAE in Sydney.
His star is on the rise in the Green and Gold but his Championship side has lost 1-0 to league leaders Newcastle United.
Irvine played the full 90 minutes for Albion, who are just four points clear of the relegation zone with six games remaining.
