Cottees 5-a-side

Cottee-s Schools 5-a-Side is a schools program that's been run since 2009 by Football Federation Australia (FFA) and State Federations. Cottee-s Schools 5-a-side provides school students from years 3 and 4 the opportunity to experience football in a fun and relaxed environment and since it kicked-off over 25,000 kids have been involved.

The key aspect to the Cottee's 5-aside program is the fun, relaxed, non-competitive environment in which its held. It's all about getting kids to participate and play football for the enjoyment of it so they want to keep playing for years to come.

It's expected that as many as 27,000 children will be participating in more than 180 events nationally in 2011, so it shows how popular Cottee's 5-a-side has become and it's still growing!

The Northern NSW event is the largest so far, where over 450 children participated in one venue! But it doesn't matter where you are in the country, metro or regional, Cottee's 5-a-side is helping kids to get involved in playing football everywhere.

A school attending a Cottee-s Schools 5-a-side will play a minimum of 5 games in a round robin format. The simplified rules make the main focus of the day all about participation and enjoyment. This ensures that boys and girls of any ability are able to be included in teams and able to enjoy a day of football. These simplified rules allow teachers or older students who do not have any football experience to oversee the games and act as the Game Leader.

FFA and State Federations will commence conducting Cottee-s Schools 5-a-side days nationally. A Cottee-s Schools 5-a-side day will be coming to your area very soon.
