The CommBank ParaMatildas have suffered their first defeat of the 2025 IFCPF Women’s Intercontinental Cup, going down 5-0 to the USA in a rematch of the 2024 IFCPF Women's World Cup Final.
Going into the final regular match of the tournament, both teams had already learnt their fate for the final series, with the USA and Australia unable to be overtaken in first and second, respectively.
This match was a rematch of the 2022 and 2024 IFCPF Women's World Cup Final, with the USA taking bragging rights in the 2022 final, while Australia claimed the most recent title at the end of last year.
The USA didn't take long to show their dominance, with Jesslyn Kuhnel opening the scoring 9 minutes into the game. Kaia Spencer doubled the tally not long after to make it 2-0 heading into the break.
Kuhnel and Spencer picked up right where they left off to start the second half, with Kuhnel notching a hat-trick and Spencer adding a second to get a brace.
The two sides will now face each other in tomorrow morning's (1:30am AEST) final game of the tournament.
All matches will be live-streamed on the IFCPF YouTube channel and LSUTV (Loughborough Students' Union TV) YouTube channel.
