2010 Football Hall of Fame - nominations now open
Nominate your choice for the 2010 Football Hall of Fame
Football Federation Australia (FFA) today opened nominations for the 2010 Football Hall of Fame.
“We all know football is a game of options so we are inviting the football family to nominate players and non players who have made an outstanding and continued contribution to football for many years and who have helped advance the growth of our game,” said FFA CEO Ben Buckley.
The Football Hall of Fame is the game's top honour and provides an opportunity to recognise football's past by paying tribute to the greats, both men and women.
There are two categories:
• the Hall of Champions to celebrate the legends of the sport on the field; and
• the Hall of Honour to recognise sustained, outstanding contribution off the field.
To nominate a candidate for the Hall of Champions or the Hall of Honour simply visit www.footballhalloffame.com.au. All nominations will be considered by the Football Hall of Fame Committee, comprising FFA Board members, past players and media representatives.
Nominations close on 23 November 2010, with the induction ceremony set to take place on 8 December 2010 in Sydney.
The Football Hall of Fame is an honour of the highest prestige in our football community. More than 200 people have been inducted into the Football Hall of Fame since it was established in 1999 and are all featured in the virtual Football Hall of Fame gallery: www.footballhalloffame.com.au.
More recently, the 2009 inductees included past players Paul Okon, Cheryl Salisbury and Tony Vidmar along with John Economos and Sam Vella for their ongoing and outstanding contribution off the field.
