Westfield Matildas Head Coach, Tom Sermanni, has selected a 36-player squad to take part in a training camp at the Australian Institute of Sport from 25-27 September.

The camp continues the ongoing squad selection process for the Westfield Matildas in their lead up to the AFC Women-s Asian Cup in 2010.

Sermanni has been building his squad since the conclusion of the inaugural Westfield W-League season with preparations for the AFC Women-s Asian Cup 2010 firmly on his agenda.

“We-ve got a lot to work towards and the continuation of this selection process is an important part of developing the cohesiveness of this talented group of players,” said Sermanni.

“Having qualified for the AFC [Women-s] Asian Cup in 2010 there-s still a lot we want to work on in preparation for this event,” continued Sermanni.

“With the Westfield W-League season 2 beginning next week all the players schedules will be very busy until Christmas and it will be great to watch their progress throughout this elite competition,” Sermanni finished.

The AFC Women-s Asian Cup in 2010 also serves as a qualifying competition for the FIFA Women-s World Cup in Germany in 2011. Australia is currently ranked 14 in the FIFA World Rankings and fourth within the AFC.
