Wellington Phoenix v Western Sydney Wanderers: match preview
Wellington Phoenix can match their best-ever undefeated run if they avoid defeat against Western Sydney Wanderers this Saturday afternoon (kick off 2.45 AEDT).
Ufuk Talay's side extended their unbeaten streak to eight matches with a 2-1 triumph over Central Coast Mariners in Round 13 with international stars Ulises Davila and Gary Hooper on the scoresheet.
A win or draw against the Wanderers would equal the nine match unbeaten run achieved under Mark Rudan's guidance last season.
Western Sydney are out to cause a shock. The Wanderers succumbed to a 2-1 home defeat against Brisbane Roar last time out, following a mini-revival which brought a 1-1 draw with Western United and a 3-2 victory over Adelaide United.
Another defeat for the Red and Black will certainly not sit well with a fan base which held lofty ambitions for the season at the start of 2019/20.
