Queensland Roar-s finals aspirations have taken a hit, with the news experienced defender Josh McCloughan will miss the rest of the season with a groin strain.

Scans this morning showed McCloughan had sustained a “significant” tear to his adductor longus (groin), putting him on the sidelines for six to eight weeks.

McCloughan sustained the injury in a challenge just before half time in the first leg of the Hyundai A-League 2009 Minor Semi Final against the Central Coast Mariners at Bluetongue Stadium last Friday night.

The big defender suffered the same injury earlier in the season, forcing him to miss five Hyundai A-League matches.

The Roar will welcome back youngster Luke DeVere into the squad after he successfully negotiated his return from a hamstring strain in last weekend-s 1-0 National Youth League win over Perth Glory in Perth.
