With the summer months almost over, the Pt Augusta Junior Soccer Association final series is coming to a close as this marks the end of their junior calendar season for 2008/9. In preparation for Season 2009/10, which will also include the implementation of Optus Small Sided Football, a Gala Night was held on Friday 20th March at Central Oval.

Pt Augusta which is situated 3 hours north of Adelaide has a township population of approximately 14,000 people. Optus Small Sided Football was demonstrated on the warm-hot summery night, with 30 energetic 4-7 year old boys and girls taking part in small sided games in a round robin format. Currently in place, the Pt Augusta JSA has a grassroots development program catering for the needs of children. The night was also open to attract new children to the game of Football.

With frequent drink breaks - the children remained refreshed during the evening, as the heat was not enough to deter them from scoring goals and having a great time on the park. Thankyou must be said to all who attended and assisted with the night. A structured junior competition has only been in place for 5 years, therefore Football in the region is still in its developmental stages. With such a promising turn out of grassroots players, the game is looking to have healthy growth going in the future.
