Phoenix hold on against Gold Coast
Gold Coast United was frustrated by draw specialists Wellington Phoenix at Skilled Park on Friday night with neither side able to find the back of the net.
In a lacklustre affair, Wellington shut down Gold Coast, who was unable to produce its brand of free-flowing attacking football.
Phoenix midfielder Daniel came the closest to breaking the deadlock and was unlucky not to score after his header from a Leo Bertos corner cannoned of the crossbar.
Chances were few and far between for both sides with Wellington continuing its run of draws and the positive for Gold Coast being its first clean sheet since Adelaide in Round 3.
Perth has the chance to move to outright top spot when it takes on North Queensland on Saturday night, while the Melbourne and Brisbane clash will follow that.
The Westfield W-League kicks off on Saturday as well, with the Roar hosting Canberra in the season-opener.
There's also two National Youth League matches with the Glory taking on the AIS and Sydney up against Central Coast.
