LA Galaxy About to Arrive for Hyundai Club Challenge
It is not long before the kick-off of the Hyundai Club Challenge between Sydney FC and LA Galaxy at Telstra Stadium in Sydney on Tuesday 27th November.
For those who haven-t been keeping up with the latest news from LA Galaxy, their coach, Frank Yallop, resigned last week to take on a new position at the San Jose Earthquakes. The Assistant Coach Trevor James is currently in charge of the team of the club-s Pre-Season tour, but there is a distinct chance that they may have a new coach by the time they head to Australia.
The Galaxy recently played a charity match against Hollywood United in Los Angeles recently to raise money for the victims of the recent bushfires in California. The Hollywood United team contained celebrity players such as actor Anthony LaPaglia, Viv Campbell of Def Leppard, and a number of former international football stars including Frank LeBoeuf, Joe-Max Moore and Alexi Lalas. LA Galaxy easily won the match 12-4, but most importantly $US100,000 was raised for the bushfire victims.
On Wednesday 7 November LA Galaxy were held to a 0-0 draw with the Vancouver Whitecaps in British Columbia. David Beckham started the match and played for 72 minutes before being substituted.
The LA Galaxy next play the Minnesota Thunder at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minnesota. The players then head home for the Thanksgiving holidays before travelling to Sydney for the Hyundai Club Challenge.
With only around 1,000 tickets still available for the match, a crowd of in excess of 80,000 is expected to be in attendance at Telstra Stadium for the Hyundai Club Challenge.
If you can-t get to the match Network Ten will be broadcasting the match in a special 3-hour presentation.
