Team News

Key man Josh Risdon is set to miss out for Perth Glory with a bruised heel, after missing the final game of the A-League Men season against the Phoenix with the same issue. They will also be missing Nicholas Pennington, while Lachie Wales has been ruled out of the chance to take on his childhood club.

Meanwhile, Trent Sainsbury will almost certainly be unavailable for the Mariners.

The Central Coast Mariners ended the season disappointingly, with a defeat to the Brisbane Roar. Worse still, their 6-0 defeat to rivals Newcastle Jets on April 12 was an exclamation point on a poor season.

By contrast, the Glory have reason for some optimism, ending their season with a win. Two of their four wins came in the last three rounds of the season.

Last Time They Met

The last time the Mariners won in the league was against the Perth Glory, a 3-1 victory on March 30. Alou Kuol, Mikael Doka and Christian Theoharous were on the scoresheet that day as the Glory – despite having double the shots and more possession – could not gain an advantage.

The Glory will take heart from their statistical advantage in that game and will hope that it can be converted to goals this time out.

What They Said

David Zdrilic, Perth Glory Head Coach:

“We’re now playing the way we wanted to play weeks ago and we’re getting the results now, which is obviously important.

“Hopefully, in this last game of the season, we can play the same way we have in the last three games.

“Going into this game, we’ve got confidence now that we haven’t had throughout the whole season.”
