Perth Glory and Sydney FC grabbed their first points of the 2009 Westfield W-League season while Brisbane made it two-from-two on Saturday.

A first-half goal from Collette McCallum gave the Glory their first win of the season in a 1-0 result over Newcastle at ME Bank Stadium.

At McKellar Park, the Sky Blues overcame home side Canberra United 2-1 with Sarah Walsh and Catherine Paaske getting on the scoresheet for the winners before Ellie Brush replied for Canberra.

Kept at bay by a brilliant performance by Victory keeper Melissa Barbieri, Brisbane was outplayed for long periods before substitute Ellen Beaumont settled the result with a scrambled goal in the 83rd minute.

Meanwhile in National Youth League action, the AIS picked up its first points of the season with a hard-fought 2-2 draw against the Central Coast Mariners at Seymour Shaw Park in Sydney while a clinical finish three minutes from full-time by the competition's leading scorer Kerem Bulut handed Sydney FC a 1-0 win over Melbourne Victory at the Veneto Club.
