The Futsalroos have gone down to Thailand in the final of the AFF Futsal Championship, the defending champions taking the decider 6-0 to claim a record 10th crown.
In what was a repeat of last year's final the Futsalroos went into the match full of confidence following their extra-time win over Vietnam in the semi-finals.
Unfortunately the Aussies conceded two early goals, against a side retaining numerous players from their FIFA Futsal World Cup campaign, putting them on the backfoot throughout the contest.
The Futsalroos did their best to match the early intensity of Thailand but their opposition took a deserved lead five minutes in courtesy of a well-worked team goal finished by Piyapan Ratana.
Still reeling from conceding the opener, the Aussies quickly found themselves two behind barely a minute later after Thailand were allowed to easily press on goal.
The Futsalroos managed to prevent any further scoring before the break but were finding it difficult to settle into the match and fashion any chances of their own.
Chasing the game in the second-half was always going to be a difficult assignment against one of Asia's futsal powerhouses.
The Futsalroos continued to play the attacking style that had marked their run to the final but Thailand proved to have too much precision on the day. The Thais scoring four unanswered goals in the second stanza to complete a thoroughly deserved win.
