Franken visits Tasmania
Qantas Socceroos goalkeeper coach Tony Franken recently spent time with some of the Apple Isle's rising stars between the posts when he dropped in to the Tasmanian Institute of Sport.
Better known these days for his work with star Australian shot-stopper Mark Schwarzer, the former Socceroos custodian spent time in Hobart with TIS men's coach Dean May as well as taking charge of a 90-minute training session with some TIS goalkeepers in Sandy Bay.
Youngsters Tristan Predergast, Jemma Plummer and Olivia Edwards were on hand to not only show Franken what they're capable of but also to receive some tips from the 44-year-old who spent his entire playing career in Australia.
With Football Federation Australia focused on not only developing the next generation of goalkeepers but also boosting the depth as well, Franken is kept just as busy at similar sessions around the country as he is working with the elite at international level.
