CommBank Young Matildas Squad Update - 18th Feb 2025

CommBank Young Matildas’ Alexia Apostolakis, Tiana Fuller, Isabela Hoyos and Amber Luchtmeijer have been medically withdrawn from this week’s PacificAus Four Nations Tournament in Canberra.

The quartet were made unavailable after sustaining injuries during their respective club fixtures in Round 16 of the 2024/25 Ninja A-League season.

Melbourne City’s Apostolakis picked up a thigh injury in their clash with Sydney FC to rule her out of the February FIFA Women’s International Window. In the same encounter, Sydney FC forward, Luchtmeijer, suffered a concussion ruling her out of the tournament.

In form, Central Coast Mariners’ forward Tiana Fuller is also unavailable due to a thigh injury sustained in her side’s defeat to Melbourne Victory FC. While Brisbane Roar’s Hoyos sustained an ankle injury during their meeting with Western United FC on Sunday afternoon.

The four have been replaced in the 26-player squad by forward India Breier (Newcastle Jets FC), defender Alexis Collins (Newcastle Jets FC), forward Nikkita Fazzari (Western Sydney Wanderers FC) and defender Christina Kiceec (APIA Leichhardt FC).

Breier, Collins, Fazzari and Kiceec will join the CommBank Young Matildas camp at the Australian Institute of Sport ahead of their opening match against Vanuatu on Wednesday, 19 February.

Australia will host the senior national teams of the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu, and the Thailand U20 Women’s National Team in the second edition of the PacificAus Four Nations Tournament running from 17 – 26 February 2025. The action will take place across three match days in a round-robin format at Viking Park and Deakin Stadium with entry free to the public.

Fans in Australia will be able to watch the PacificAus Sports Four Nations Tournament via Football Australia’s YouTube channel, and international fans will be able to tune in on FIFA+ and Football Australia’s YouTube channel as well as via PacificAus TV in the Pacific Islands.  Get the free FIFA+ app on your phone (Android or iPhone) or Smart TV, or head to fifaplus.com and start streaming.
