Belmont receives Optus Small-Sided Football Demonstration

Children from the Belmont Soccer Club were willing participants in an Optus Small-Sided Football Demonstration at their club on Saturday 28th February.

Belmont Soccer Club was the place to be on Saturday February 28 for the Macquarie Associations first kick of Optus Small Sided Football.

The demonstration day was organized in conjunction with Macquarie Football to give coaches, parents and players the opportunity to experience this exciting new format being rolled out across Northern NSW and Australia wide.

With 14 clubs participating in this ‘hub- format, in age groups from Under 6 to Under 8s, 300 children both boys and girls had the time of their lives in what you could only describe as a carnival type atmosphere with parents enjoying the day as much as the children.

Eight small sided football fields were set up on Marks Oval at Belmont, including a ‘warm up- field for coaches and players. The FFA-s Regional Participation Manager for Northern NSW Kean Marshall was on hand to co-ordinate the day in conjunction with Northern NSW Football Development Officer Matt Pratt.

‘The day was a great success,- Marshall said. ‘It allowed parents to see the new format first hand and gave them the opportunity to discuss the benefits of Optus Small Sided Football with coaching staff and Northern NSW Football representatives.-

Football Federation Australia and Northern New South Wales Football would like to thank the Belmont Football Club for hosting what was a fantastic day also special thanks must go to Jim Armstrong and his team of volunteers for their assistance on the day.
