Australia joined in Beijing by Japan and Korea Republic
Australia has been joined at the 2008 Beijing Olympics by traditional AFC heavyweights Japan and Korea Republic, as well as hosts China.
Like Australia, who drew 1-1 with DPR Korea, Japan and Korea Republic went through after recordings draws, although their matches were against their nearest rivals.
Japan was held 0-0 by Saudi Arabia in Tokyo, while it was the same scoreline between Korea and Bahrain.
In the other group A match, Iraq overcame their disappointment of missing out on qualifying for the Olympics, hammering Lebanon 5-2.
